Based on the experience of many guests who have stayed at our property, you can easily spend 5–6 days in Bari, visiting the city and taking buses to nearby towns which, according to everyone, are definitely worth seeing. However, if you’d like to combine the classic sightseeing vacation with some time at the beach and more flexibility, we recommend renting a car to move around freely.

In Bari, a car is not necessaryβ€”parking is difficult and would only add stress.
The city center (the Murattiano district) starts at the central train station, just a 10-minute walk from our property. It's easy to explore, as the streets form a grid layout. The main pedestrian street is Via Sparano, and along with its parallel street Via Argiro (also pedestrian), and the cross streets, it hosts the most important shops and fashion brands.

At the end of Via Sparano, opposite the station, you’ll find Corso Vittorio Emanuele, full of restaurants and bars. From there, you can enter the old town (Bari Vecchia), where you can lose yourself in charming little streets full of local folklore. You can visit the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral, and the Swabian Castle, as well as small churches, museums, and the old city walls overlooking the sea.
You can walk along the famous "orecchiette street" (named after the typical Apulian pasta), where elderly ladies make fresh orecchiette by hand right outside their homes.

From Corso Vittorio Emanuele, you’ll also see the old Teatro Margherita (which is built directly over the sea) and you can take a stroll along the southern seafront (one of the most beautiful in Italy), enjoying a pleasant walk all the way to the Pane e Pomodoro beach.
Walking along the seafront, on the right side, you'll find the Umbertino district, full of Liberty-style buildings, bars, and nightlife venues that come alive in the evening.

If you'd like to combine beach days with afternoon and evening sightseeing, renting a carβ€”as mentioned earlierβ€”is a great option.
One town not to be missed is Polignano a Mare, also known for hosting the Red Bull Cliff Diving competition. The old town is perched on high cliffs, with narrow alleys and panoramic balconies overlooking the sea.
Just a few kilometers away is Monopoli, which is especially worth visiting in the eveningβ€”perhaps stopping there for dinner before returning to Bari.
Some of the most beautiful beaches stretch from Monopoli (a mix of sand and rocks) to Capitolo (all sandy beaches). In both Monopoli (where some beaches are right in town) and Capitolo, you can choose between free and paid beach areas, and the sea is always beautiful.

Another great option is spending a day at the beach along the coast near Ostuni (from Villanova to Costa Merlata, there are many lovely beaches and coves, both free and with facilities), and then choosing whether to visit Ostuni (the β€œWhite City”) and dine there, or continue on to Cisternino for dinner before heading back. (Both Ostuni and Cisternino are definitely worth a visit.)

If you skip the beach, be sure to visit Alberobello. Unique in the world, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for its cone-shaped housesβ€”the Trulli. After visiting Alberobello, we recommend heading to nearby Locorotondo (about 10 km away) for dinner before returning to Bari.

One more place you shouldn’t miss is Matera. It's not in Puglia, but in the neighboring region of Basilicataβ€”only about an hour from Bari. It’s also very unique, as the old part of the city is famous for its dwellings carved into the rock.

And one last tip… if you’re on a diet, don’t come to Puglia! πŸ˜„
